Romario Shepherd in Action

West Indies stunned England in the second T20I at Bristol, thanks to a brutal assault by Jason Holder and Romario Shepherd in the final overs. The duo tore into Adil Rashid’s bowling in the 19th over, smashing 31 runs in just six balls and lifting their team to a strong total of 196/6.

31 Runs in Rashid’s Over: Momentum Shift

The turning point of the innings came in the 19th over. Jason Holder began by launching Adil Rashid for three consecutive sixes. He then took a single to rotate the strike, bringing Romario Shepherd on. Shepherd followed up with two more massive sixes, leaving Rashid stunned and ending his spell with 1 for 59 in four overs.

Their short but fiery 42-run partnership off just 14 balls changed the mood of the game. Holder remained unbeaten on 29 from just 9 balls, while Shepherd made 19 off 11 deliveries before being run out by Jos Buttler in the last over.

Strong Foundation by Top Order

Earlier, West Indies were steady in the first half of the innings. Johnson Charles scored 47 off 39 balls, and Shai Hope added 49 from 38 as the duo shared a 90-run stand for the second wicket. Rovman Powell chipped in with a quickfire 34 off just 15 deliveries, hitting three boundaries and two sixes.

England Bowlers Struggle

England, who opted to bowl first after winning the toss, had a tough time with the ball. Luke Wood stood out with 2 for 25, but others went for runs, especially in the death overs.

Adil Rashid’s 19th over proved to be the most expensive, and it gave West Indies the late boost they needed.

With the series on the line, the West Indies now have momentum on their side heading into the next match.
